When you arrive, the Institute will have someone pick you up at the airport. You will be given an orientation to the community and the school. Since this is a community living situation, you may be asked to share your apartment with others. This is beneficial, since we are all here with a similar heart, goal, and vision.

As in your living situation at home, your routine of shopping, cooking, house-cleaning and washing clothes will become routine here as well. Cooking Chinese food is very easy. Shopping is very cheap if you go to the regular market to buy basic essentials. There are more western supermarkets available, but the price of the items increases in these places. There are washing machines available, so you won't have to wash your clothes by hand, and the weather here is dry so the clothes dry quickly.

The Weather

Tianjin's climate varies greatly over the year. Summers are hot and humid summers. The average high in July is 31°C (87°F). The winters are cold and dry because of the Siberian winds, with an average high of 2°C (36°F) in January. The transition from winter to summer is rapid so the springs and autumns are short. Tianjin has little rain all year round except during the summer.
