Convenient, modern housing is provided for teachers. The rent on the apartment is paid for, and some meals are also provided at the school. Teachers should expect to pay for their other food, utilities (including gas, electricity, water, heat, telephone and internet) and transportation (including air travel to China and local transportation).

The amount of support you will need varies by individual, but we recommend a minimum of $350-400 (U.S.) per month. If you choose to get around by subway, bus or bicycle, you will spend less than if you use taxis. You may choose to eat some of your meals in restaurants or cook for yourself at home. Your apartment will have basic furnishings, but you may wish to add more at your own expense. All of these things can affect the amount of support needed.
You may have to pay for some one-off costs when you arrive, such as a bicycle, bedding, cell phone and visa costs.
